The ring (ceramic or tungsten carbide) is a component of the pad printing ink cup. Due to prolonged doctoring against the cliché, the ring wears out over time and requires replacement. The ring is a consumable part in pad printing machines.
Ceramic Ring:
It is made of zirconia, which is abrasion-resistant. It’s not as hard as tungsten carbide, but it costs less than a tungsten carbide ring. So the ceramic ring is the standard ring used in the cup for most pad printing users.
Tungsten Carbide Ring:
It provides high abrasion resistance and excellent hardness. So, for long-term use, some pad printing machine users choose this type of ring. But it costs slightly more than the ceramic ring.
Ring Specification:
The rings (both ceramic and tungsten carbide) have the following specifications:
Single-blade: the ring has a blade on only one side.
Double-blade: the ring has blade type on both sides.
Outside bevel: beveled from outer to inner, forming the blade edge.
Inside bevel: beveled from inner to outer, forming the blade edge.
Double bevel (inside and outside): beveled from both inner and outer to the middle, forming the blade edge.
Ring descriptions usually consist of 2 parts, such as “single blade, outside bevel”, “double blade, inside and outside bevel”, etc.
